Your journey begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Bishkek. Next, drive east and stop at the historic Burana Tower, an 11th-century Silk Road minaret. Climb to the top for panoramic views of the Chuy Valley and explore the ancient balbal stones.
Continue south into the Kyrgyz Ala-Too mountains, ascending the scenic Kalmak-Ashuu Pass (3,400m). From the top, enjoy breathtaking views before descending to Song-Kol Lake – a vast turquoise alpine lake surrounded by green meadows and snow-capped peaks.
Settle into a traditional yurt camp on the lakeshore. Afterward, enjoy a hearty Kyrgyz dinner and spectacular stargazing.
Song-Kol Lake – Horse Riding (3-4 hours) & Lakeside Exploration
Wake early to witness the sunrise over Song-Kol Lake – a magical moment as the first light touches the water. After breakfast, enjoy horse riding along the lakeshore (3-4 hours). In addition, the terrain is gentle and suitable for riders of all experience levels. No horse riding experience is required! Our horses are calm and well-trained.
As you ride, you'll have the opportunity to visit nomadic families, observe traditional herding, and take in stunning panoramic views of the turquoise lake. Along the way, in the afternoon, you are free to explore the lakeshore on foot or simply relax and enjoy the serene alpine atmosphere.
After breakfast, bid farewell to Song-Kol Lake. Drive to Naryn City for lunch, then continue to Tash-Bashat Village. The route takes you through the famous "32 Parrots" Pass (also known as Terskey Torpok Pass), named for its numerous serpentine switchbacks. Finally, this dramatic mountain road offers spectacular views at every turn – a photographer's paradise.
Tash-Bashat is a village deeply connected to Kyrgyz traditions. Check into a guesthouse – your first night with private facilities and Wi-Fi after the yurt camps. Next, enjoy dinner and a comfortable rest.
Today's off-road adventure takes you deeper into the mountains toward the remote Kok-Kiya Valley, near the Chinese border. Afterward, a border permit is required and included.
The drive takes you through the beautiful At-Bashy Valley, crossing Kyndy Pass (3,500m). Descend into the vast Ak-Say Valley, where you'll see traditional yurts and herders tending to yaks and horses.
Arrive at your yurt camp in Kok-Kiya Valley, surrounded by rugged peaks and pristine nature.
After breakfast, drive or trek (or optional horse riding for extra fee) to the magnificent Kel-Suu Lake (1-2 hours each way). This stunning turquoise lake, nestled between towering cliffs near the Chinese border, is one of Kyrgyzstan's most spectacular sights. The vivid blue-green water and dramatic scenery create an unforgettable experience.
You'll have time to walk along the shoreline, take photographs, and simply absorb the beauty of this remote location. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the lake.
Return to your yurt camp in Kok-Kiya Valley for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, depart Kok-Kiya Valley and drive north toward the legendary Ysyk-Kol Lake. The drive takes you through Naryn City and over scenic mountain passes to the southern shore of Ysyk-Kol Lake (approximately 5-6 hours). Lunch on the way at a restaurant.
Arrive in Bokonbaevo, a village on the southern shore famous for eagle hunting traditions. Check into a guesthouse with beautiful views of the "Pearl of Central Asia."
Today you'll explore the spectacular southern shore of Ysyk-Kol Lake.
Start with a captivating eagle hunting demonstration with a local berkutchi – an ancient nomadic tradition passed down through generations.
Continue to Skazka Canyon ("Fairy Tale Canyon") – a surreal landscape of wind-sculpted sandstone in vibrant red, orange, and yellow hues, resembling castles, dragons, and mythical creatures.
Visit Barskoon Waterfall – a powerful cascade in a lush gorge. A short hike brings you close enough to feel the refreshing mist.
Drive to Jeti-Oguz Valley, famous for its dramatic red rock formations – the iconic "Seven Bulls" and the legendary "Broken Heart" rock.
Drive to your guesthouse in Karakol for overnight.
Board a classic Soviet-era UAZ 4×4 vehicle for a rugged off-road journey into the Altyn Arashan Valley ("Golden Spa").
